Hello Emil How long do students work on the practice arm before they practice on something more alive? Do they practice on each other after a while? Regards Susanne
I saw one of thoose in the "Health centre" at the school. I wonder: on who do they train when they start doing this" for real". Are there many "injuryies" when they try?
Susanne: They practice on a plastic arm ones and later out on a care rellaterad internship they stick on a real patient together with a trained assistent nurse. And they are realy nervous about this. :-)
Carina: Avoiding needlestick injury as far as possible when there is a risk of infection. All patients are potential disease carriers to the contrary is proven, and it is a negative blood test.
That's interesting. In Australia the first real people that students practice on is usually each other. For difficult/unpleasant procedures the schools sometimes employ people to act as a patient. Over time these employed patients become quite knowledgeable and sometimes help with the teaching. All the best Susanne
