The teachers study room where they keep the material for lessons.
The students do not have school books in the vocational subjects. Instead the teachers create their own stuff for lessons and student tasks. For that they use different books, films and internet.
Here is a movie clip from an internet site for lessons, shown in a class.
Yesterday the students in the subject ”Pedagogical work” were divided into groups to discuss their values according to situations in a pre-school. The task was to come to an agreement even though you in the beginning have different views. They all succeeded in that.
Here I usually see the students sitting in groups looking at their computers or cell phones, talking
and relaxing. The space is also used as a study room för moments of discussion or work in groups.
It is a calm space where you can concentrate if needed.
The teachers have a box where they collect the students cell phones, if someone use them during lessons. Most often they only mention the box and the students put downs their phones..... Cell phone in Swedish is ”mobil”, box is ”låda”.
The students have a subject called ”Nature guidance”. Here we are out in the woods, preparing hot chocolate after playing a game including map reading. As a scout I really liked this, although my lack of skills in map reading were a bit embarrassing.

Looks really nice having nature guidance! Unfortunately I missed that during my workplace -based learning:)
ReplyDeleteYes, this was a true favourite! Unfortunately I just attended to two lessons in this subject.
ReplyDeleteI liked the" mobil låda", it`s a good idea. Some students have difficulties to have excess to the mobil and must use it!! So I think it´s a good help that they have to put away during the lessons. Really nice eith natur guidance!!
ReplyDeleteHow many teachers use/ stay in the study room? Is it a room with only books/material?
ReplyDeleteLooking at the pictures I get the impression that you use a variety of teaching approaches, like working with computers, watching film and going for walks in the nature. Nice!

ReplyDeleteHello Carina, about your comment about the mobil låda: yes, it worked real well. Sometimes though students who have difficulties keeping the attention are allowed to look at their cell phones a few minutes, just to cope, as the teacher (me) look at the other direction. It is never just the one way around, is it... The box was most oftenly empty in the study room, just mentioned when so was needed, and used a few times.
ReplyDeleteHello again Carina, two teachers share the study room. There is not a great deal of space, but enough I think.
ReplyDeleteHell Anna, Yes it is right that a variety of teaching approaches was used - I am greatful to have been allowed to see such a lot of different ways of filling the lessons with material!
